The City of Webster City is the local provider of water, sewer and electric utilities, and some utilities in the rural areas surrounding the city limits. The City also provides a fiber optic loop throughout most of the community, allowing residents and businesses easy access to multiple service providers. We have 2 million gallons per day of available water capacity. The City's water source is three wells weith a fourth well to be under construction in 2012. The City's rated water capacity is 4,500,000 gallons per day and it has the ability to treat and pump 3.5 million gallons per day. The average daily peak demand on the system is 1,200,000 gallons per day. The City has above ground storage capacity for 2,000,000 million gallons and currently pumps from its wells less than half the day.
The City has up to 1.5 million gallons per day of available sewer capacity. Our existing sewer plant has a rated capacity of 3,300,000 gallons per day with an average daily peak demand of 1,300,000 gallons. The City is in full compliance and has no pending orders or enforcement actions.
With over 15 MW of available capacity, the City has a highly reliable system with electricity that comes to the City through three different transmission routes. Additionally, the City's system is fully looped and the city has a 20 MW backup generator so the lights will always be on in Webster City. The City has three existing 20 MW substations with a fourth substation designed and funded in anticipation of future industrial development in the City's new industrial parks.
The City has several energy efficiency programs and incentives, including energy efficiency rebates, an energy efficiency loan program, and an incentive rate for large projects where the City could reduce electric rates for new commercial and industrial users during the first 1-3 years of operation provide they are creating jobs.
The City of Webster City owns a 60 pr. fiber cable that is looped throughout most of the community. This fiber allows residents and businesses multiple options for internet communications.
Additionally, the City is certified as a Broadband Deployment Community.
