VeroBlue Urban Farm Construction Project Update
The landscape is changing on Des Moines Street in WebsterCity as VeroBlue Farms continue the conversion of a warehouse into the largest onshore, indoor aquaculture facility of its kind.
Work on the 270,000 sq. ft. building began in August with demolition and concrete work, as well as installation of ceiling freezer panels. The exterior of the building is also in the process of being painted. To date, approximately $8 million has been invested in the community and surrounding area.
It is anticipated that the first set of 48- opposing flow technology tanks will be in place by the end of 2016 and will be producing Barramundi in the first quarter of 2017. In time, VeroBlue Farms will have 240-tanks in this facility with the ability of producing 7.2 million pounds of fish annually.
